Synthesism Collection
I am convinced that in the midst of so much post-modern deconstruction, division, and atomization we are in need of synthesis. Blending and combining influences that draw us to truth, beauty, and goodness in a universal, but uniquely personal way. The “Synthesist” is someone who looks hopefully into the past, present, and future, curating what is impacting them to create a “new” expression.
“Truth is found neither in the thesis nor the antithesis, but in an emergent synthesis which reconciles the two.” -Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
“We are approaching a new age of synthesis. Knowledge cannot be merely a degree or a skill... it demands a broader vision, capabilities in critical thinking and logical deduction without which we cannot have constructive progress.” -Li Ka-shing
“Love is the affinity which links and draws together the elements of the world... Love, in fact, is the agent of universal synthesis.” -Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

SYNTHESISM Guiding Statement:
I am convinced more and more that in the midst of so much post-modern deconstruction, division, and atomization we are in need of synthesis. Blending and combining influences that draw us to truth, beauty, and goodness in a familiar but uniquely personal way. The “Synthesist” is someone who looks hopefully into the past, present, and future, curating what is impacting them to create a “new” expression. Embracing nuance, and de-prioritizing certainty, this philosophy can apply to a variety of disciplines, art, architecture, philosophy, culture, politics, etc.and allows for fresh, less polarized/dogmatic voices to emerge.

Truth Beauty Goodness Collection: Original + Eternal Sunsets
One of the original formats that started Jason’s journey as an artist, these bold pieces are a visual reminder to pursue truth, beauty, and goodness.
“Truth, goodness, and beauty are cosmic values that communicate divine meaning to the intellectual, moral, and aesthetic capacities of the human soul, which brings a balance in the soul, which, in turn, harmonizes the human person with divine meaning and purpose of the cosmos, which was considered the prerequisite to human flourishing.” - Dr. Steven R. Turley
Watching sunsets has been some of my most peaceful and grounded moments. This series aims to bring a piece of this beauty into your everyday life no matter the time or location. They are bold, but they each have their own calming energy when you interact with them. Just as the values that they are named after have an eternal quality, these sunsets help bring us back to the present (eternal) moment.

Worlds Collection
Each “World” in this collection is a unique expression of color and texture originating from the Reverse Abstraction process. The intent is for them to remind you that you are capable of creating the world you would like to see in your life. Creation is the ultimate expression of human power; it allows us to turn dreams into reality and shape the world with our imagination.
“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will.” -George Bernard Shaw
Quilted Collection
The “Quilted” Collection draws inspiration from barn quilts, working to create my own modern interpretation with the Reverse Abstraction process. These two are reflections on friendship, reminding us that even though we are different, we can create something beautiful together.
“There are no strangers here; Only friends you haven't yet met.” -William Butler Yeats
Fruity Ramen
Fruity Ramen is a playful reminder that life is filled with unexpected intersections, overlaps and turns. If we allow them to flow freely, we can create something beautiful. In a world so divided, Fruity Ramen reminds us that there is beauty in coming together. Also some tears too.
“Any kind of dancing is better than no dancing at all.” -Lynda Barr”

Layers Collection
Each of us have layers to our soul. Some we may show, others that remain hidden. Each Layers Collection piece is made of separate Reverse Abstraction pieces of canvas fused together to create a dynamic whole. A reminder that there is always a deeper layer we can pursue in our life and relationships.
“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” - Carl Jung
Energy Bouquets
Flowers have always served as a delicate reminder that each of us has the power to grow, to bloom, and to make the world a little more beautiful. Each flower in the Energy Bouquet has been chosen to create a powerful energy and emotion each time you interact with it.
“The whole universe is contained within a single flower.” -Toshiro Kawase
Imaginary Topography
Each of these Reverse Abstraction pieces have created an Imaginary Topography that reminds us that we can create the landscape of our lives. Our imagination serves as the mental cartographer, sketching the landscape of our possibilities. In this map of the mind, imagination uncovers the vast potential within our thoughts, showcasing the boundless terrain of human creativity.
"Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will." - George Bernard Shaw
Interfaces
Each “Interface” is made up of multiple canvases brought together to make a whole. The connections we have with one another create a bond, chapters in our collective story, where we come together and share in the narrative of life.
"Gestalt is seeing the whole in a way that is greater than the sum of its parts." - Fritz

HUMAN/NATURE Series
“Nature Is Our Teacher”
60 x 38.5 x 4.5in heptaptych
Mixed media collage on canvas + 24k gold leaf
Quote - Albert Einstein
The HUMAN/NATURE series attempts to capture a serendipitous moment in time where nature and humanity collaborate to create something beautiful.
Each unstretched piece of canvas is saturated with paint and dye on concrete, oftentimes with artifacts from nature placed underneath. As the canvases dry and fade in the Florida heat, they are almost baked, as if in a kiln, and adhered to the ground. Once adhered they are pulled off the ground, removing pieces of paint and concrete from prior works from the outdoor studio floor and often leaving “fossils” of nature behind. Some pieces come out perfect on the first pull, others take multiple pours/pulls.
Once they are ready, the pieces are cleaned and transferred inside where a period of arranging, settling, and coalescing happens both randomly and intentionally to create a collage that feels complete or whole. Frames are then cut, canvases stretched and assembled to create a dynamic gestalt. Words/quotes are added on the outside frame to increase the power and intention of the piece.
With deep reverence for the Wabi-Sabi philosophy and aesthetic, these pieces additionally attempt to connect with some of the key aspects of this way of life and creativity that is difficult to easily define.

Rules can be helpful in structuring life and society. I am working on a rule of life right now! Oftentimes though, rules are not up for discussion, which only gives us the option of obeying or breaking them. A third way might be to keep them open, with a prototyping mindset that allows for iteration. As Travis would say, we don’t need to get rid of rules, we just need better ones.

Asheville has been a magical place for our family. Not only the city but the energy that inspired so many of my heroes at Black Mountain College. I couldn’t get the fall colors and tones out of my head and had to bring them back with me to make this piece. Almost 2 months in the making…gathering artifacts, painting, arranging, re-arranging, building, assembly etc. was all worth it!•‘Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.' -Albert Camus
The “For Love” collection is an ongoing celebration of both the beauty of tennis and the love that each player brings to it. Every time I step on the tennis court I am drawn to its simplicity and rationality and needed to bring it to life in my art. Each piece is scaled to the specifications of the court and uses gold leafing for the “net” and center line. The piece will stand on its own aesthetically for the average viewer, but takes on much deeper significance for the tennis lover. Looking forward to commemorating special courts and moments throughout the year.
