Ever since I visited the @rothko_chapel I have always wanted to make large, immersive, colorscapes. Coming in at 8 1/2 feet, this is the largest painting I have done and it still feels like I could double or triple the size. This one is particularly special, because Ellie was in the studio with me and even helped a little with it. I had done the Reverse Abstraction™ process 2x and while it was beautiful, it wasn’t quite speaking to me. That’s when I decided to get a little more loose with it, not being so precious. We threw everything we had at this one, we lovingly called it “junking” it, putting salt, rubbing alcohol and a number of different types of paint and dyes in it. This one opened up my playful heart, and I think it’s because Ellie’s energy was in the studio with me. It’s easy to see why Jesus said, “let the children come to me” they show us the way to truth and goodness.
